LED Strip Power Supply Calculator

Enter your strip length, watts per meter (or foot) and voltage. We add 20% headroom and show MEAN WELL power supplies that fit, with live price and stock.

Size your LED strip power supply

Watts per meter is printed on the strip reel or its datasheet. For RGB or RGBW strips, use the full-white (all channels on) rating.

How the calculation works

1. Multiply the strip length by its watts per meter (or per foot) to get the load. 2. Divide by 0.8 so the supply runs at 80% of its rating or less. 3. Pick a constant voltage supply with the same output voltage as the strip (12 V strip, 12 V supply) and at least that wattage. Use an IP65/IP67 model outdoors or in damp locations.

Example: 5 m × 14.4 W/m = 72 W, and 72 W ÷ 0.8 = 90 W, so a 100 W 12 V supply such as the LRS-100-12 fits. See the LED strip power supply guide for wiring and dimming tips.
